Helicopter Training

Training Organisation number IE.DTO.024

Learning to fly in Ireland gives a student pilot a great ability to understand the weather.

As Ireland is located in the north Atlantic and enjoys exposure it to endless streams of cold, warm & occluded weather fronts this gives the student excellent opportunity to learn to fly in, poor weather conditions and more importantly when not to fly in poor weather conditions.  This training gives a solid background  a for safe private pilot and future commercial pilot.

Kinsale Helicopters offers an EC120/H120 (pictured above) for first stage training (to PPL) of the helicopter commercial pilot licence. The H120 is an accomplished helicopter, the multi blade rotor system provides excellent safety in the turbulent conditions found in Ireland. It also uses a single turbine engine giving a valuable foundation in the use of gas turbine engines used in all large commercial helicopters. It uses an enclosed tail-rotor (Fenestron) providing an extra safety margin while the helicopter is running on the ground and gives the student a better understanding  of tail-rotor behaviour. It also has five comfortable seats.

We can offer: Complete first stage commercial pilot training for ab-initio pilots to private pilots licence, 45 hours minimum flight time plus 9 written exams. ICAO PPL(H) conversion to EASA PPL(H) assessment flights.  These can be done by prior agreement at any IAA licensed airfield as required.

We also have a Senior examiner for Private licence, commercial licence, instructor licence and instrument rating flight tests. Also revaluations on R44 & Bell206
